Emerald was a natural scholar and valedictorian in elementary, middle, and high school. A proud City Knight alumni, published anime author, avid debater, Harry Potter fanatic, and well-loved flight attendant for Southwest Airlines. But her most significant accomplishment was being a mother to Yasmein and Yari Butcher; they were her pride and joy!

As a young single mother, many folks counted Emerald out, but she used that as momentum. She never allowed her circumstances to stop her drive, instilling the same level of perseverance in her children. Even after Emerald’s untimely passing, we can see her morals and values in everything they touch.

She lives on through them!
